After graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1995, Chad started his career in construction as an AmeriCorps volunteer carpenter for an affordable housing non-profit in Hendersonville, NC. Once his service was complete, he continued working as a carpenter for a private construction company and quickly ascended to the position of lead carpenter.
In 2000 Chad returned to the affordable housing non-profit in the role of construction superintendent. During this time he oversaw the administration and construction of up to ten homes at a time. Chad worked nights and weekends assisting low income families build their own homes as a path to affordable home ownership.
Chad also worked as a lead carpenter and construction superintendent for a private construction company building high end homes in Lake Toxaway and The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. This experience provided a different perspective to the possibilities construction when great design and superior craftsmanship are combined.
In 2005, Chad became a licensed general contractor and opened his own construction company focused on utilizing energy and resource efficient construction techniques. He became the first builder in Henderson County to build a Silver Level NC Healthy Built Home. During this time he also earned accreditation as a NAHB Certified Green Professional and a NCBI Certified Master Builder.
In 2016, Chad found a home at Carlton DesignBuild as a construction project manager. With over 15 years of construction experience under his belt in various environments and positions, Chad is looking forward to working with the outstanding team that has been assembled here.
