Architectural Designer
Luis is an architectural designer who brings a wealth of experience in sustainable design and construction to Carlton Edwards. With a Master of Architecture from North Carolina State University and a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Appalachian State University, Luis combines formal training with practical expertise developed across diverse international settings.
His professional journey includes working as an architectural trainee at EVR Architecten in Gent, Belgium, serving as a designer for Colibri Collective in Mexico, and gaining valuable experience as an intern designer at RND Architects in Durham, NC. While at Appalachian State, Luis was part of the university’s team competing in the prestigious 2011 U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon competition.
Luis has a comprehensive skill set spanning Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite, along with expertise in both rough and finish carpentry. He is fluent in Spanish and English, and is currently expanding his linguistic abilities by learning Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, and French.
Outside the office, Luis nurtures his well-being through meditation, walks, and caring for his home plants. His passion for design extends into his personal interests, where he enjoys graphic design with a focus on logo development and branding, as well as designing and fabricating furniture. An active individual, Luis embraces soccer, tennis, volleyball, indoor boulder climbing, and bike riding.
His global perspective, technical abilities, and commitment to creating humane architectural spaces that enhance user experience make him a valuable member of the Carlton Edwards team.
